$675,000 Workers’ Comp Settlement Following Violent Eye Injury
Our client was working at a major manufacturing plant when he was violently struck in the eye by a co-worker with a paint roller. The co-worker immediately fled the work site and never returned. Our client was rushed to the emergency room with his eye bleeding profusely.
Emergency eye surgery was immediately necessary. Following the procedure, our client went on to develop cataracts and incurred a mountain of medical bills as result of the violent behavior of his co-worker.
Our client filed a workers’ compensation claim with his employer who, in return, denied the claim stating that our client was guilty of “horseplaying.” The employer continued to refuse to take measures to ensure our clients’ medical bills and lost wages were fairly compensated.
This led our client to hire Chris Hart Law to help with his case. First, we filed a lawsuit against our client’s employer for negligently hiring the co-worker with violent tendencies and failure to properly supervise the workplace. The employer tried to deny liability for the lawsuit but we refused to take no for an answer.
After several months of hard fought litigation, Chris Hart Law successfully won a $675,000 settlement. With this compensation, our client will be able to pay his medical bills and move forward with his life.
